Bicycle Dog Trailer Guide
There are so many reasons to ride a bike these days. It's kind to the environment first of all. We're all trying to lower our carbon footprint and use less oil, but riding a bicycle will do a lot more for you. It's great exercise. If you hate going to the health club this may be the solution for you. Why not have some fun while you're exercising? You will save money by riding a bike too. Since I began riding a bike rather than driving I've saved lots of cash every year on gas, parking, and upkeep. Has it been a long time since you rode a bike? Try it, you’ll be amazed at how much fun you’ll have.

When I began cycling I began looking for a way to bring my dog with me. I was accustomed to taking her wherever I went, and I simply didn't think it was safe to attach her leash to the bicycle. I compared many bicycle dog trailers before I found one that was appropriate for our conditions. There is a wide variety of sizes and prices to pick from when you're shopping for a dog trailer. It's a great idea to go slow and consider all the choices before you make a final choice. Your dog's size is important as well as the terrain that you plan to travel through. The most expensive option isn't always the right choice it's often a matter of finding one to suit your needs.

All bicycle dog trailers seem to have a general set of components. For example they all have detachable wheels. This is a must for anyone who lives in a cramped space. You can just pop off the wheels, fold up the kennel component of the trailer and slide it in the closet. It's a piece of cake to do. Each dog bicycle trailer has a D-ring inside. You can clip your dog's leash to the ring to keep him safely inside the trailer. I've found that a chest harness is the best thing for this.

There are numerous differences in dog bicycle trailers as well. A lot have stroller conversion kits. For the less pricey trailers this is usually sold separately, but is an included feature in some trailers. This option is fabulous for an arthritic dog or one who just can‘t walk easily. Weight capacity is different from trailer to trailer. Some can stand up to 110 lbs while others can only hold 45. If you have a big dog make sure that you find a trailer that's fitting for his bulk. One other feature that separates the puppies from the pit bulls is wheel size. Most bicycle dog trailers have 20 inch wheels, but others that only have sixteen inch wheels. The diameter of the wheel determines how close to the ground the trailer sits. If you are taking the trailer of road you'll want to choose the higher clearance.

A bicycle dog trailer is a great investment for dog owners who want to take their canine companion on the road with them. Now Fido isn’t stuck at home when you're out enjoying the afternoon.
